It's the second week of May, and after a long overdue arrival, I think it is safe to say that Spring is officially here. Spring took its sweet time showing its face. In fact, this is the first week since October that the kids haven't had to wear their winter coats to school. I've been dreaming of flip-flops, golden dandelions and the smell of freshly mowed grass. Finally, Spring is in the air.
Many things come to mind when I picture springtime in Michigan:
Walks through the park on days warm enough to leave the coats behind...
Mama geese protecting their nests...
The trees transforming from bare branches to sensational flowering blossoms...
Fluffy puff-ball ducklings following along on a first adventure...
But nothing says "Spring" like the start of the baseball season. Owen has moved up from t-ball to the next level, and it's finally getting exciting to watch.
These boys can hit the ball. I mean, really hit it.
Gone are the days of throwing rocks and chasing each other around the infield. These boys pay attention, just waiting for their chance to field a grounder and throw it to first.
The younger kids love coming to the games, too, for entirely different reasons:
Cuddling with Grandpa:
Snacks on a blanket:
Picking flowers off of the trees and watching them float away:
Shortly before the game ended, the clouds parted just a bit and we got to say goodnight to the sunshine.
So we lost 4-13. No worries-this is only the beginning and we're just getting warmed up.
Love it! That's pure Michigan :) I can't wait to go to one of Owen's games now that they're not quite so b o r i n g! LOL. Good job on the blog! xoxox,
