Sundays

Thirty Days of Thankfulness, Day 6

Do you ever struggle through the workweek and then get so excited for the weekend that you try to cram a zillion different things into those two days and then when the alarm goes off on Monday morning you're wondering how, exactly, it's already Monday again?

Around here, we save our crazy for Saturdays only.  Sundays are different for us.  We purposely make no plans on Sundays.  No alarms are set, there are no kids' activities to run off to, and Jason never has to go to work.  The day usually starts with chocolate chip pancakes, made by Greyson. Sometimes we go to church, and sometimes we don't.  If we are home for the day, everyone gets kicked out of the house. The kids pull on their mud boots and off they go.

There are hunts for eggs...

There is football in the backyard...

And, of course, popsicles...

Frog catching...

Ice cream for the chickens...

Bike rides to the store for sweet treats...

Long walks around the property...

Kitten naps...

Midday foot baths to clean the mud off when you decide to traverse the garden barefoot...

I usually sneak away for an hour or two to get lost in the woods...

And Jason always has something to do...

Whether it's family or friends, someone always stops over to visit on Sundays.  There are cookouts and bonfires and sometimes the neighbors wander over for a beer and a chat.  We don't spend our Sundays rushing to get everything done, we enjoy these days.  We don't think about tomorrow being Monday and everything we have planned in the upcoming week, we simply enjoy our family time and small moments.  Sundays are our days to regroup and relax and recharge, and for that I am thankful.
